Objet d'Ahhh (series 1)

Much of my work over the past two decades has focused on the american "throw-away society". When I moved to Plum Island a few years ago, the content became the objects I find on my daily walks on the beach. I call this series "objet d' ahhh".

The work is based on my view that material objects have replaced the spritual in american society. When looking for satisfaction, people tend to go shopping. There is an excitement that comes with the new purchase, but fades relatively quickly. By the time I have collected these objects, they have become garbage - washed up on the beach. By re-contextualizing the objects, they become humorous to horrific, depending on my state of mind at the moment.
